Australia 2010

A circumnavigation (with risks).

A real wild camp!

Having complained about the absence of real wild camping sites in Australia (so far), we have now, at last, found one!

As you drive north along the spectacular Indian Ocean coast of Western Australia you pass miles of deserted white sand beaches. You also pass 100s of No Camping signs on every dirt track leading down to the sea. But just north of the Shire of Carnamah there is a 10km stretch of coast without No Camping signs!

Just south of Knobby Head (S29.66913 E114.96107) is an idyllic beach with easy access from the road.

Originally we just stopped for lunch (a fisherman 100 metres down the beach offered us part of his catch).

But we could no resist the temptation to stay overnight.

Of course by the time you get there, there will be a nice new No Camping sign. Good luck.
